Axis of Evil - ROFL

"First Look at Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac"

Microsoft's Macintosh Business Unit (Mac BU) said Thursday that the release of Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac has been pushed back from the second half of 2007 until mid-January.

The Redmond-based firm now anticipates showing a final version of the software at the Macworld trade show and conference in January, with global availability to commence in the first quarter of 2008.

One of the highlights of Office for Mac 2008 is a new user interface for Word dubbed "Elements Gallery," which speeds up document creation by allowing users to drag-and-drop predefined templates for some of the most commonly used "Document Parts," such as headers, footers and tables of contents.

Another featured, called "My Day," is essentially a stand-alone widget application that allows users to track priorities and stay on top of daily activities no matter what Office application they happen to be working in at the time. It interfaces directly with Entourage -- another component of Office -- offering at-a-glance schedule and task viewing without having to launch Entourage.

Meanwhile, a new version of Excel will gain support for "Ledger Sheets," which will allow the spreadsheet application to handle common financial management tasks such as balancing checkbooks, tracking accounts or managing investment portfolios."

Laura Bush to visit Kuwait, UAE, KSA, and Jordan

"WASHINGTON: US first lady Laura Bush will visit Kuwait during a Mideast trip Oct 20-26, her spokeswoman announced yesterday. She also plans to visit the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Jordan to meet with key officials, medical and educational leaders, and leaders of women's groups, press secretary Sally McDonough announced."

Why only the first lady?? The President must be too busy that or too scared to come to this part of the world alive. Fearing he might be brought back only to be buried. Hmm.. and why not visit Bahrain? Are we not good enough? Is it just me or do I sense anger and sarcasm in this post?

Is this what they have lead us to become? Could this attitude we as Arabs have be as a result of their constant attacks and hatred towards us? I'm not one for politics (and I am quite a civil, respecting, law-abiding citizen) but every once and a while, there comes an article or a news report that just gets to you.

What are they trying to do now we often ask? Why can't they just leave us alone. "Live and let live", I say, but I don't think they know how to do that.

"Empire State Building Goes Green for Muslim Holiday"

"NEW YORK — The Empire State Building is aglow in green this weekend to honor the Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan.

The 102-story building routinely lights up its famous spire to honor everything from traditional holidays to sporting events to notable charities to “the myriad ethnic groups living in the New York City area,” according to the building's website.

But Thursday night marked the first time the all-green lighting was used to mark the kickoff of Eid-al-Fitr, a three-day celebration for Muslims around the world.

The all-green lighting was used earlier in the week to promote the city's Parks Department.

Not many religious holidays make the cut. Green and red are used every year to mark the Christmas holiday season, and blue and white -- the colors of the Israeli flag -- are used for the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah.

And the building doesn’t fire up its thousand-watt bulbs for just anyone. The “extraordinary number of requests” cannot all be accommodated, according to a building statement. Lighting up the spire for commercial products and corporate events is out, as is the commemoration of personal events like birthdays or anniversaries." -FoxNews.com

'The Kingdom' Banned In Kuwait, Bahrain

"Kuwait and Bahrain have banned theaters from showing The Kingdom, a Hollywood thriller set in Saudi Arabia, Variety.com said Wednesday.

The first Hollywood movie made in Abu Dhabi, The Kingdom is about an elite FBI team that goes to Saudi Arabia to investigate a terror attack on a U.S. compound.

It is loosely based on the 1996 Khobar Towers bombings in Saudi Arabia, in which an Islamic fundamentalist cell attacked a U.S. compound, killing 19 U.S. servicemen."

The Kingdom (Trailer)

"When a terrorist bomb detonates inside a Western housing compound in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, an international incident is ignited. While diplomats slowly debate equations of territorialism, FBI Special Agent Ronald Fleury quickly assembles an elite team and negotiates a secret five-day trip into Saudi Arabia to locate the madman behind the bombing. Upon landing in the desert kingdom, however, Fleury and his team discover Saudi authorities suspicious and unwelcoming of American interlopers, into what they consider a local matter. Hamstrung by protocol--and with the clock ticking on their five days--the FBI agents find their expertise worthless without the trust of their Saudi counterparts, who want to locate the terrorist in their homeland on their own terms. Fleury's crew finds a like-minded partner in Saudi Colonel Al-Ghazi, who helps them navigate royal politics and unlock the secrets of the crime scene. With these unlikely allies sharing a propulsive commitment to crack the case, the team is led to the killer's front door. Now in a fight for their own lives, strangers united by one mission won't stop until justice is found." - Yahoo Movies

Rumor has it Bahrain is to switch to new number plates. Now, how accurate that is, is beyond me but for now at least here's the picture I was able to get my hands on. Please do confirm or deny as I will be doing the same.
